Weekend with the Philips

It has been a fun weekend, but it's not over yet! I'm so excited to hear Tony Noland speak in the morning at church. I've heard great things about him. I also got some incredible news...It's been really stressful on me since the beginning of the pregnancy knowing I was going to have to drive so far to deliver Trip, but by the grace of God, we worked it out to where I can deliver on the island with the midwife I wanted from the beginning! It's so cool to see how worrisome I can be and then God is like, "Hold on, I got this!" I'm so excited that my doctor's appointments and delivery is so close to friends and church family, and it's close to my house if I need someone to run home for anything for me!

Last week, David and I went to a 4D ultrasound clinic. It's called "Sneak Peak Studios", and I give it two thumbs up! It's in Jacksonville, and the girl that did the ultrasound was incredible! She was a Godsend, and her prices are super reasonable! She said that she felt like everyone should have the opportunity to see their baby in detail, not just people who could afford to pay a fortune for it. It was so cool. Below I will post a few pics of my little guy. It's so neat to see he already has his own little personality. He keeps his hand by his face, which makes me wonder if he will be a thumb-sucker or will sleep with his hand by his face. We went to the ultrasound last Saturday, and he kept his hands on his face so we couldn't see him. We went back on Monday and got excellent pictures! Everyone keeps saying how he looks like me or David... but I can't tell yet. I do know he has his daddy's hairline! He is also super happy, at least it looks like it. He smiles and opens his mouth really wide a lot!

It's so exciting with everything. I bought everything to paint Trip's room. I taped off everything this morning and wiped down some areas of the walls. It took 3 1/2 hours! Before pregnancy that was no big deal, but now being on my feet or crawling around on the floor for so long makes me super tired! At least that part of the room is done. Now all I have to do is paint, and I think that the painting will be the easy part. I feel like the prep work is what takes so much time and effort!

This past week was awesome. I was just so busy. I babysat a little 3 year old named Sadie on Wednesday. She was such a little bundle of energy! Wednesday night we had WNL (Wednesday Night Live) for the second week in a row. Our youth group, Xchange, reenacted SNL and MadTV skits. It was some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen! This week I wasn't involved, so I got to sit with the kids and enjoy it. The previous week, I was part of a few of the skits, and let's just say that comedy is not my thing...I couldn't keep a straight face in some parts! Tyler's, our roommate, parents flew in from Cali on Thursday. They are staying in our guest room, and they are so awesome! I'm so glad that they are getting to stay with us and we are getting to know them. We had them, Trey, and Kellyn over tonight and played poker while watching the LSU game (Geaux Tigers!) It was a lot of fun. Church in the morning, and I figure after church we will hit the beach! Well, that's a little recap of my week! Here are pics of my guy!

Best day ever!!!!

Today was a very eventful day. Because of the pregnancy and everything that comes along with it I didn't sleep well last night. I'm getting used to being awake until I can't stay awake any longer and then conking out and sleeping in. This morning I ended up waking up at 9:30. David and Tyler (our housemate) got up and hit the waves at 6ish this morning, and that just wasn't happening for this moma! I got to the beach around 10:00 and Doug, a guy from our church, had his big tent set up, so while the guys were surfing, I sat under the tent for about 1 1/2 hours. The waves were so big!!! Hurricane Irene missed us, but we did get some awesome waves! The fun part of the day happened next.

David and I rode into Jacksonville to an ultrasound clinic where we got a 4D ultrasound done of our little guy, Trip. The girl doing the ultrasound was incredible (she is due in 5 weeks!). We were well taken care of. However, our little man was not wanting to cooperate. He tends to keep his hands and feet on his face, so when we would go to get a picture, he would rub his face or have his toes in his mouth! (This is interesting to me because I can't even reach my toes anymore!) We fought him and tried to annoy him, but he just wouldn't budge. She took a few pictures and we got to see him in detail several times. David was amazed that you could tell when he was sucking his thumb how his jaw muscles moved and when he was swallowing fluid you could see his mouth opening and closing. It  was incredible. We did see that he has lips. I didn't think he was going to have lips because ours are so small, but he has beautiful round lips and a cute little nose and ears. We are going back Monday to get more pictures put on a CD and a video to keep.  It was an incredible experience to see how amazing technology is, and how even more amazing our God is to make this little person from scratch! I can hardly wait till Monday!

This afternoon we went to the church for Destiny and Catie's going away party. Two of the young women in our church are going to Africa for three months to do missions. They will be working in orphanages and an abandoned baby center. This is truly an awesome time for them to be God's hands and feet to the world, so we are in prayer for safe travels and an incredible experience. It was bittersweet to pray for their trip because these young women will be greatly missed around the church and our group of friends.

After the party David invited a group to the house for games. We had a blast. It does not take a whole lot to entertain us! We all played card games and a drawing game for hours and had so much fun!

Anyway, that was my day. hope you enjoyed:)

Here are a few pics of my little guy.

Few pics from Louisiana baby shower

First Blog Post Ever

This is my first blog post ever!!! What's sad is I just learned what blogging was in the last few months. I feel like I'm living in the stone age... HaHa. I wanted to start this blog to keep everyone up to date on me and my life since I live so far away from home. I will try and blog a few times a week, but I feel so scatterbrained right now, it's not even funny!!!!

We are living in Florida now, which I thought would be a world of difference from Louisiana; however, the town we are in is very similar to our small hometown because it's also small, everyone knows everyone else, and we have an incredible church family out here that has kind of become our surrogate family since we are 700 miles away from the bayou state.

We moved here on March 5, 2011, and we are loving every minute of it. There is one big difference between Florida and Louisiana...We live 15 minutes from the most beautiful beaches ever! David, my husband, spends most of his down time at the beach surfing. He sometimes gets home from work while it's still daylight and hits the beach while he can. He is in the Navy, so his work schedule doesn't allow much downtime. It's something he loves to do and it makes me happy that he has a sport that is so much fun. I love to surf (or at least attempt to get up on the board), but I cannot do it anymore. No worries, it's a good thing! I'm pregnant!!! (But more on that subject in a later post).

I must give you fair warning...I am not ashamed of anything, so some of my posts may seem a little blatant and you may feel like a little TMI is shared, but that's me. I am open about everything that goes on in my life, and this new adventure of pregnancy is just crazy!!!!! Although, I will keep it rated PG. I will also title some of my posts "warning: girls only". I feel like that is enough of a warning to let guys know that they should be careful before they read the following post. I'm not candid about stuff going on in my life, the good, the bad and the ugly! haha.

The things I will talk about are subjects such as faith, pregnancy, marriage, friends, church, family, girl stuff, and probably a ton of other things. I appreciate everyone's opinions, beliefs, advice, etc., but I ask that everyone that comments use clean language and do not be pushy. What I mean is, everyone, including me, has different opinions and beliefs about a lot of different things. I love to receive advice, recommendations, and to hear about others' experiences, but please do not push these on me or anyone else. I want this blog to be enjoyable for everyone and would really like to keep in touch with family and make new friends through it.

I'm so excited to share my adventures in life and hope that everyone enjoys!!!!!
